Drone data platform built for the pace of modern mining

Measure volumes, track pit progression, and verify blasts from the air.

Accurate cubic meter calculations across your entire site, shared with every stakeholder.

Why mining surveys can create more problems than they solve

Traditional surveying tells you where your site was last week. By the time the report lands, the site has moved on.

Reconciliation delays

Stockpile data arrives too late to match against haulage records, invoices, and shift reports.

Multi-pit complexity

Coordinating surveys across several areas means some zones are always running on stale data.

Volume disputes

Inaccurate measurements lead to miscalculations and contested contractor payments.

Client credibility

Presenting week-old data in a progress meeting undermines trust before you’ve said a word.

Data silos

Results live in licensed desktop software that only two people on site can open.

The decisions your team makes should be based on todays numbers, not last weeks.

Track pit progression across any timeframe

View several site snapshots simultaneously: blast pre-survey next to post-survey next to last month next to today. Verify material movement, confirm blast results, and document progression without toggling between files or waiting for a specialist to compile a report.

No specialist hardware required. Runs on any laptop, tablet, or phone.

Stockpile volumes you can invoice from

Draw a polygon around any stockpile or work zone and get exact cubic meter calculations in seconds. MapClean automatically removes haul trucks, equipment, and temporary infrastructure from your data. Cut/fill maps show you exactly where material has been added or removed across the entire site.

Every measurement can be exported as a PDF report with results and graphics included: audit-ready documentation for royalty reporting, contractor payments, and compliance records.

Reports your clients can see the moment they’re ready

Everyone sees the same current data, in real time. Upload processed outputs directly if you already have orthophotos, DSMs, or LAS/LAZ point clouds from your own processing pipeline. No per-seat fees and no version confusion.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is drone surveying for mining operations?

With photogrammetric processing and ground control points (GCPs), drone surveys achieve centimeter-level accuracy — typically 1–3 cm horizontally and 2–5 cm vertically. Without GCPs, accuracy is lower but still sufficient for progress monitoring and volume estimation. AVAG supports both Automated processing without GCPs and Expert processing with GCPs, so you can match the accuracy level to what each task actually requires.

How long does it take to get results from a drone survey on a mine site?

With AVAG, data uploaded after a morning flight is typically processed and ready to work with by early afternoon the same day. You can prepare volume calculations, cut/fill maps, and progress comparisons immediately after processing. A client-ready PDF report can be generated and shared before end of day compared to the 1–2 week turnaround typical of traditional surveyor workflows.

How much does drone surveying cost compared to traditional surveying in mining?

A traditional surveyor visit to a mine site typically costs €500–2,000, not including the time cost of waiting for results. Drone-based monitoring with AVAG reduces this to the cost of a drone flight plus the platform subscription, with most operations reporting 70–80% cost savings compared to regular surveyor callouts. The platform also eliminates per-seat licensing fees, so sharing data with unlimited stakeholders adds no additional cost.

What data formats can mining teams import into AVAG?

AVAG works with data from most drone platforms and common photogrammetry workflows, so there is no need to change your existing capture setup. If you already process data externally, AVAG imports outputs directly from Pix4D, Agisoft, 3DSurvey, and DroneDeploy — accepting TIFF orthophotos and DSMs, LAS and LAZ point clouds, and mesh data as a ZIP package containing JPG, OBJ, and MTL files. For map visualization and overlay, AVAG supports CAD drawings, WMS services, 3D models, DXF, TXT, CSV, Shapefile, and PDF formats. High-resolution grid photos, 360° panoramic images, and imagery captured with or without GPS also import directly for processing within the platform.

Do we need expensive computers?

No. The cloud-based platform runs in any browser and works on basic laptops, tablets, or phones. No hardware investment required.

How do mining operations share drone survey results with stakeholders?

AVAG allows unlimited users to be added to a project at no extra cost. Site managers, operations directors, finance teams, and compliance officers all access the same current data. No software installation required.

Can AVAG compare drone survey data against a mine design model?

Yes. Design models in XML format load as a layer directly alongside drone survey data, and CAD drawings import as DXF overlays. This allows direct visual and quantitative comparison between as-built conditions and the approved mine plan.

What is MapClean, and how does it help on mine sites?

MapClean is an AVAG feature that removes vehicles, machinery, and temporary structures from drone survey data before volume calculations are run. On active mine sites where haul trucks and excavators are constantly moving, this eliminates the most common source of stockpile volume disputes: measurements inflated by equipment sitting on a pile or in a work zone on the day of the flight.
